CAMPFIRE PAPER BAG BREAKFAST

It was said it couldn't be done by my husband and my brother in law Jerry. This was something that I had seen on YouTube and wanted to try out! So this is what you need 1 paper bag, bacon (I used three strips ) an egg and of course a campfire. It helps that I also had my sister in law cheering me on. The other two "UN"believers were left to sit and watch as I proved them it COULD BE DONE!

STEP ONE
IS TO RUB THE BAG
WITH THE UNCOOKED
BACON

STEP TWO
CRACK AN EGG IN

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE BEFORE IT WAS  COOKED

STEP THREE
FOLD THE BAG UP LEAVING ROOM FOR STEAM

STEP FOUR
POKE THE BAG AND USE A HOT DOG STICK
TO HANG OVER THE FIRE

STEP FIVE
HANG OVER THE FIRE WE DON'T HAVE TIME AT OUR
CABIN SO WE "GUESSTIMATED" THAT IT TOOK ABOUT
FIVE SONGS ON THE RADIO FOR TIMING
(Jerry at this time was realizing that this was going
to work and was now trying to figure out how
the bag didn't burst into flames)

STEP SIX
TAKE OFF THE STICK AND OPEN IT UP! IT WAS VERY EXCITING!

STEP SEVEN
RIP THE BAG DOWN AND EAT! It was actually really quite yummy.
The bacon fat made the eggs not dry out and the bacon was both chewy and crispy!
The best part was proving the men WRONG! Nope not going to let them forget this!!!!

only in SASKATCHEWAN

So on our way up to Somme this weekend. We stopped in a little Ukrainian town named Porcupine Plain and this was attached to their stop sign. Gotta love the Ukrainians humour!

THE BOY AND THE FENCE

I had recieved this via an email many years ago and have used it as an example to others when tempers flare. I have not been perfect in my life but this story had made me think many times before I have made a hole.

The boy and the Fence
                                - By unknown Author

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.
The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence... Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.

EAT fresh veggies today!

Its official today is eat your fresh veggies day!
 So here is my
INFAMOUS ONION DIP RECIPE FOR THE SHARING
(this really is my momma's recipe I stole it and I haven't met a person who doesn't love it!)

1 package of cream cheese
1 med size container of sour cream
1 bunch of green onions
and sea salt to taste
(we really like it salty)

Directions are pretty simple: with a mixer, cream the cream cheese, add the sour cream, chop the onions
and add to mixture. Mix the dip with the mixer for about 5 minutes to really get the onions blended in, add the sea salt for your taste preference. I let it sit in a covered container for 1-2 hours before serving but usually it is dipped into before then!

MY GREAT FIND!

I have a tiny kitchen and counter space is always an issue.
My friend Grace was down sizing and had a similar sized kitchen.
In her kitchen was this adorable  cart she was putting in her auction sale .
So I purchased this at the sale.
And I had a vision that no one in my family
could see! So with some black spray paint
and a homemade sign PRESTO!
Extra counter space and some cuteness too boot!
I am  very happy with the results! Its a WIN-WIN situation!
